The goal was to weave a rather big scale tapestry( big for me: 65×40 cms) with the silk I bought on sale at Toronto., and from a doodle I failed to weave on a very small scale. I already begun something on my frame with this silk, but gave up quickly, because of the frame I then thought. It happens it’s because of the silk. The yarn is too soft, it flattens, and you don’t even see the bead of the weaving. I may have to give it to someone for knitting….

So I went to my stash and found a bag of yellow and creamy wools I bought in Aubusson, leftovers of a workshop. I added 4 others browns and greys, and here I go!

J’avais prévu assez grand tissage avec de la soie de Toronto. Mais cette soie n’est pas faite pour la tapisserie, toute molle, s’écrasant au premie coup de peigne. Alors j’ai sorti de mes boites un lot de vieilles laines dans les jaunes, acheté à Aubusson, et c’est parti, une petite bonne femme sans bras dans l’encadrure d’une porte..

Celina is working in two different directions. She has finished the sample for her Hundertwasser project, and she is beginning a collection of tiles, all with the loom her husband has made for her. You can see in one of the photos she was able to install a mirror to see the tile she is weaving.

Celina mène de front deux projets, l’échantillon pour son Hundertwasser, et une collection de carreaux. Elle a réussi à installer un miroir sur le Frereche, le métier construit par Olivier.

Three weeks ago, thanks to my generous niece, I visited the FIAC in Paris. A bunc h of beautiful pieces of art, amongst them two tapestries that caught my eye, by a painter called Andreas Eriksson.

A la FIAC, il y a 3 semaines.

I can’t begin a big project now, I don’t have the time. So I am experimenting: wool warp, U warp, no ends weft, all that from a doodle I made and that I will repeat. I choose blues that I love, a fine sett and my lovely bobbins.

Suis pas encore prête à me relancer dans un grand projet, alors j’expérimente : chaîne en laine, chaîne en U sur le Mirrix, trame sans fils qui ressortent, tout ça avec des bleus que j’ai choisis, un crobard et mes belles bobines.

This is a yearly three-days event in Felletin, near Aubusson. During these 3 days at the end of October, one can see tapestry exhibitions, visit wool related companies, buy fleece, thread, wheels, looms, whatever, not mentioning the delicious resturants and the gorgeous architecture all over the place.

A la fête de la laine à Felletin, on peut visiter des expos, des entreprises, acheter de la laine, un métier à tisser, tout en mangeant dans de délicieux restos, en admirant l’architecture des villages alentour.

There it is, done. I’m happier than I expected with it. Not steamed yet. The colors turned well, the weaving is ok. Anita as usual doesn’t like her face. I’m not very fond of the faces, but I caught their personalities in them though. I’m heading to the third one, may begin it in January at the latest.

Voilà, une aventure de terminée. Elles ne sont pas si mal. Je vais commencer le troisième d’ici janvier.
