Just in time!

I wrote I will post once a month, and I nearly missed it! I’m not posting, but I’m weaving a lot. I warped the Leclerc loom for the second time (I have still some warp tension issues…), and I’m studying and sampling for the big Alice and Anita. Some of the samples turned ok, some not. I’m just finishing my third Alice and will post other pictures when they’ll be off the loom.

J’ai écrit que je posterai ici une fois par mois, et j’ai failli manquer à ma parole. Je ne poste pas, mais je tisse beaucoup. J’ai monté une deuxième chaîne sur le Leclerc (avec quelques problèmes de tension je dois l’avouer..), et je continue mes études et échantillons pour mon “grand “ projet. Certaines études fonctionnent bien, d’autres moins. Je suis en train de finir ma troisième Alice, et je prendrai de meilleurs photos quand je tomberai le métier.

Also, I change my work space to accommodate another loom in it. I want to weave a rug, with Christabel Balfour wools, I want to try my hand at kilims.

J’ai réaménagé mon atelier pour y glisser un deuxième grand métier, j’ai envie de me lancer dans un kilim, avec la laine que j’ai acheté à Christabel Balfour.

Some news from my friends : Celina and Frédérique are working on different and sometimes secret projects, I’ll let you know. Sylvie has tried her hands at indigo dye.

Des nouvelles des amis : Celina et Frédérique travaillent sur différents projets, quelquefois secrets, bientpdes nouvelles. Sylvie s’est essayé à la teinture à l’indigo.

Jon gifted me with beautiful (and useful) cotton towels, that I use daily now. He is also weaving silk carves for his friends, and sampling gorgeous linen for a shirt. (And I’m waiting for his latest big piece).

Jon m’a offert de fabuleuses serviettes, que j’utilise quotidiennement. Il est en train de tisser des écharpes en soie pour des amis, et m’a envoyé ces splendides échantillons de tissu en lin, qu’il fait pour des chemises. (Et j’attends qu’il me montre sa grande tapisserie terminée…)

Manuèle’s library

As you you know if you attentively this blog, my friend Manuèle has begun to draw with pastel. She decided to draw her library, and will soon do it with water colors.
Si vous lisez attentivement ce blog, vous savez déjà que mon amie Manuèle s’est mise au pastels secs. Elle a décidé de dessiner sa bibliothèque, elle en fera bientôt une version à l’aquarelle.

As for these two beautiful pieces, I don’t know what they are, and I will ask her.
Quand à ces deux beaux croquis, je ne sais pas ce qu’ils représentent, je le lui demanderai.

Jon’s doodles

My friend Jon is like me a new tapestry weaver. He’s also a painter, and likes to draw colorful doodles. From one of them, he wove his first big tapestry, on a Zeus Mirrix loom. As he also was a scientist in a previous life, look at how cleverly he stored his bobbins.

Jon, mon mai américain, est comme moi un nouveau passionné de tapisserie. Comme il est aussi peintre et qu’il adore dessiner des crobards pleins de couleurs, il s’est servi de l’un d’entre eux comme carton. En bon scientifique, il a trouvé une solution pratique pour ranger ses bobines.
