I didn’t post a lot in January, but a lot of things happened. I began my two big tapestries, the kilim and Alice et Anita 7. I attended my first cuting (unlooming? Cut-off? Whatever) ceremony at the Cité de la tapisserie; and my friends did a lot of things too. I will dedicate a post to the Tolkien tapestry later this week, but here are the latest new!
Je n’ai pas beaucoup posté en janvier, mais j’ai beaucoup bossé et il s’est passé pas mal de choses : j’ai commencé mes deux grandes tapisseries, le kilim et Alice et Anita 7; j’ai assisté à ma première tombée de métier à la cité de la tapisserie; et mes amis ont été très productifs.

After so many samples (by the way, a post on the Alices next week), I finally begun. The warping was difficult, and is not perfect at all, I hope I will be able to finish despite it. The weaving is beginning with a part I never sampled, and I’m struggling. And despite all the samplings, I decided to change the thickness of the bundle at the last minute . Good decision I think, I prefer the bead and it weaves faster!
Après tant d’échantillons et d’essais, j’ai enfin commencé. (Au fait, un post sur les Alice la semaine prochaine). Le montage de la chaine n’a pas été facile, et j’espère que je pourrai aller jusqu’au bout malgré les problèmes de tension. J’ai commencé le tissage par une partie pour laquelle je n’avais pas fait d’essais, et je galère. D’ailleurs, malgré tout le travail préalable, j’ai décidé de changer l’épaisseur des fils de trame à la dernière minute, et je m’en félicite. Je préfère le grain et ça va plus vite!

Jon is the proud owner of a beautiful family quilt, and curious as usual, he wanted to know hos it was made. So which better way than to replicate it? So did he, and you can see the first square. Will he do the whole thing, I don’t know! (He doesn’t know neither I bet)
Jon est l’heureux propriétaire d’un patchwork de famille, et il a voulu savoir comment c’était fait. Quel meilleur moyen que d’essayer de le reproduire? C’est ce qu’il a fait, et voici le premier carré. Va-t-il faire l’édredon entier, je ne sais pas et lui non plus à mon avis!
Francoise is newly retired, and has carefully prepared for it. She’s taking a sewing class , and here are her two first productions, a bag for a pie, and a pouch.

Michèle is recovering from a knee surgery, and has decided to begin drawing while healing (for healing?). Here is one of her pastels, from a painter whose name I forgot.
