Another part of me

  • Alice et Anita 2, near there

It’s now going on smoothly (except for small weaving flaws…). I need concentration to weave so many interlocks, in this part of the design, it’s intelocks all the way along, for three rows. I will soon begin the row before last, the colors are ready. I already know I won’t be really satisfied with this…

  • Doodle and challenges

I decided to weave a little doodle I made, but I gave myself different rules. Rule number one : I do it the Ruth Manning way, no cartoon, just looking at the doodle. ( I cheat a little). The goal is for me to learn to draw with wool, to anticipate and understand forms. Rule…

  • Indonesian comb?

    Indonesian comb?

As always, I found this beautiful object in a yardsale near my place. The seller told me it was a comb, a decorative one. I’m not sure that it was only decorative, I don’t know if it’s a hair comb or a weaving comb. From the design, I would say it comes from an Indonesian…

    Sustainable diary

I was hooked by the idea of a diary when I saw what Tommye Scalin made of it :https://www.scanlintapestry.com/tapestrydiary But it was difficult to find what would be my diary. I needed it to be meditative but simple, because if I ever find the time each day to weave a little, I knew I wouln’t…

  • Couldn’t resist….

For five euros at a yard sale, a fifty year old but like new loom for kids. Isn’t it cute? J’ai pas pu résister, cinq euros et comme neuf malgré ses 50 ans, un métier à tisser pour enfant.

  • Lack of consistency

I was not able to be consistent with my interlocks, you can see in the first picture that a double interlock joint follows a simple one. I fear it will show when the tapestry is finished . Also, I was not able to stick with my first choice of colors, I struggled a lot, and…

  • Fruit and vegetables

I don’t know where they come from, I don’t know what they are made of, I don’t know what they were made for. These tiny objects have been with me for years now. Encore une petite énigme, d’ou viennent ces petits objets, en quoi sont-ils faits?

  • Sampling yarns

    Sampling yarns

I didn’t feel like working on my projects, too tired. So I decided to sample some of the yarns I got. These ones are leftovers of yarn shops, they are sold on sale in a hangar near my place. I warped my loom with linen, and despite my efforts, the warp is not even. I…

Life is short, we’re getting older” (Fred Astaire), and before it’s too late, I want to reconnect with what I always liked, and wanted to study and share: making textiles, textures and jewels. So here I am, and this blog will be a piece of the sharing part. I will try to post weekly, on what I do, but also on textiles I love, blogs I discover, books I read.

I bet I will struggle with technology, (it’s my first blog) and with English, which is not my mother tongue. I made the choice of English because the online weaving community is mostly English speaking .

Et pour vous, mes amis français, un résumé de tout ça : la vie est courte, et il y a des tas de choses que j’ai envie de faire et de partager, alors je me lance dans ce blog, on verra bien.
